Holiday

I took a holiday! This was the first proper holiday in ... longer than I care to think about. It was nothing outrageous, we just went less than an hour up the road. We're just lucky that living in Glasgow means that 'less than an hour up the road' is Loch Lomond. If you're not familiar with it, well, let's start off with what Loch Lomond looks like. On a bad day.

Suffice it to say it is a very beautiful place. And we had a lovely view from our hotel.

Now to be totally honest it was not a purely relaxing holiday. The first night was difficult until we figured out where to place the travel cot so that the kiddo was out of our line of sight. If she can see us she will not settle. So we were very tired the next day.

The next day we took a boat ride across the loch (which is when I took the photos above) and while this was utterly beautiful and I personally love a boat ride I can't deny that it was loud.

And the kiddo did not like the loud.

And she wanted off the boat. Which was difficult because we were in the middle of a loch. Thing is that's hard to explain to a toddler and I don't know if yo've ever been around a two year old who is told 'no' for a reason she cannot understand but... she was also loud.

That was not the most relaxing day.

But that's the bad out of the way. Let's go with the neutral and weird.

Our hotel room was on the far right of the right most building in the photo above. On the ground floor. The middle of that building's ground floor is an event hall of some sort which was locked but the entrance to the building was on the left most side as shown in the picture. That meant in order to get from the door to our room, which was the fifth room along on the ground floor, we had to go in, up in the lift, through the spa, to the very end of the building, back down the stairs and double back along the ground floor to our room. And reverse that to leave. Every time.

And then there was the good stuff. We drove out to the coast to see my in-laws and seeing them is always lovely and, again, the setting is a very beautiful part of the world. It's a difficult drive but it's worth it. We also visited the Lomond Shores Sea Life Centre. We've been before but this time the kiddo was the right age to really appreciate it and that was lovely. Seeing her get very excited about turtles and fish and otters is lovely.

This was the first time we visited, about a year ago

So on the whole it was more good than bad.
